DESCRIPTION:Gumbo massive! We’re back again for summer ’24! Part 1: Afrofest Weekend\n\n\nGumbo crew! It’s been way too long but we’re happy to be cooking again and serving up three courses of sonic Afro-goodness for summer ‘24. For the second in our series\, we’re cooking up something special for Afrofest weekend in Toronto featuring Paris/London rising star DJ N.A.S. mix specialist DJ Damiger and of course our resident DJ Revy Band friends. We’re bringing a bite size sample of the festival to the discotek! \n——————————————————————– \n\n\n\n\nAbout Gumbo\nFounded by Wan (@waninspades) and Chi (of @Supafrik)\, Gumbo is a reflection of their multicultural roots in West Africa and the West Indies. It is an art-infused dance party celebrating African and Caribbean culture through music\, dance\, video projections\, photography and space design. 2024 marks 9 years since Gumbo was founded in Toronto during Caribana. Gumbo has since gone on the road connecting the African diaspora from Montreal to New Orleans to Brooklyn where they collaborated with Afropunk. Musically centered in Afrobeats\, their musical palette also draws from everything from Soca to Dancehall/Reggae and from Amapiano to Afrohouse and New Orleans Bounce. Pulling from guest DJs like Boddhi Satva\, Anais B\, NaijaBoi(Mr.Eazi) and Nana Kwabena(Jidenna) they bring the raw energy and creativity of carnival culture into the Gumbo discotek connecting the Afro-diaspora through music. \n#WeAreGumbo \nBrought to you by Supafrik
