SUMMARY:Canadian Music Therapy Fund Moves Us Campaign Launch
DESCRIPTION:In Partnership With Lemmon Stage\nThe launch event will be a celebration of Music Therapy featuring musical performances from Ian Janes\, Alex St Kitts\, and Delyn Grey. Guests will have an opportunity to learn about music therapy and hear stories of how music therapy moves people on their healing journeys. \nThe year-long “Music Therapy Moves Us” campaign is dedicated to providing greater access to music therapy across Canada via raising $150\,000. We know that music moves us emotionally\, physically\, spiritually and expressively. Working with a certified music therapist\, music moves us intentionally and impacts us profoundly. \n“Our focus this year is bringing music therapy to children and youth\, especially those from underserved communities” said Chrissy Pearson\, Executive Director of CMTF. “There is no question that children and youth have experienced significant mental health challenges over the past several years and the life circumstances of many created an even heavier load to bear. Finding words to talk through their experiences can be difficult and intimidating. Music therapy is a non-threatening and often more effective way to reach children and youth to provide them with a method of exploration and expression that requires no words. Our national grants\, as well as the work of the Music Therapy Centre (Toronto)\, will target children and youth impacted by mental health challenges with an important focus on underserved groups.” \nCurrent campaign sponsors: RX Music\, Amazon Music Canada\, Stingray Radio\, Sony Music Canada and Long & McQuade
